Sycamore Creek's Teacher of the Year

I am pleased to announce Sycamore Creek's Teacher of the Year for 2019-2020....Ms. Overcash!!  Ms. Overcash is a third grade teacher on Track 3.  We are so very proud of her, and we are cheering her on as she moves forward to participate in the Wake County Teacher of the Year selection process.


Reminder of 2 hour Delay on Tuesday

Don't forget that all WCPSS schools will operate on a 2 hour delay on Tuesday, November 6th.  Students can enter the building at 10:00 AM and instruction will begin at 10:30 AM.  Dismissal times are the same.


Sycamore Creek Spring Performance Announced

There was excitement in the air this week after Ms. Post and Ms. Olsen announced the Spring Performance this year......Aladdin!  More details to come!


Student Council Food Drive
Please join us in supporting our school wide service project "Students Against Hunger Food Drive" sponsored by the Student Council.  We are collecting non-perishable food items to benefit those in need in NC through November 16th.

First Aid Response Team

Last week 17 of our staff members participated in two evenings of First Aid/CPR/AED training.  We have formed three First Aid Response Teams to serve specific zones on our school campus and implement our First Aid Response Plan.  Special Thanks to our PTA and community sponsor for providing dinner for our trainings!


EL Curriculum

At Thursday's Croc Chat, parents learned more about the EL (Expeditionary Learning) Curriculum.  This is the Literacy program that Wake County has implemented for grades 3-8.  Special thanks to Ms. Kronen, Ms. Beck, Ms. Overcash, Ms. Lawson, and Ms. Dragonette for sharing the texts, resources, and lessons students are experiencing through EL. NC Check-Ins

Students in grades 3-5 will be administered NC Check-ins for Math only three times throughout the year.  NC Check-ins are benchmark assessments taken online that provide students, teachers, and parents information of a students' performance on grade level context standards.  They also serve as an early indicator of a student's level of preparedness for the EOG. Additional information about the NC Check-Ins (e.g., NC Check-In specification documents, frequently asked questions, presentations, and memos) may be accessed at  Please contact our testing coordinator, Ms. Kronen ( if you have any questions or concerns.  Your child's teacher will keep you notified of specific dates your child will be participating in the NC Check-ins.


Multicultural Festival

We would love for your family to showcase your heritage and traditions at our Multicultural Festival on February 15, 2019.   The purpose is to celebrate our students and our school's diversity.  Each family that signs up will get table space to present cultural artifacts, demonstrate arts and crafts, offer language lessons, etc.  Families who want to participate should sign up before December 1st at .
Help us Keep our Students Healthy
Students must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.
