The Crocs "Rocked" the First Week of School!   I am so proud of our students and staff who quickly immersed themselves in learning.  The minute you walk into the classrooms, you can sense the enthusiasm and excitement.  We are looking forward to having all of our kindergartners here this week!

 

Open House

We look forward to seeing you at Open House this week.  Open House for Track 1 is this Wednesday, July 18th at 5:30 PM and Open House for Track 2, 3, and 4 is Thursday, July 19th at 5:30 PM.  Open House is an event for parents only to come and learn more about classroom expectations, communication plans, and grade level curriculum.  As soon as you arrive, please go directly to your child's classroom. 

 

Volunteer Registration

The volunteer system will be open daily for reactivation or registration from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.  You will also be able to register in your child's classroom or the media center at Open House. Remember this must be done every year.  If you are planning to volunteer in the classroom or be a field trip chaperone anytime this year, you must be on the approved volunteer list.  

All continuing parent and community volunteers MUST reactivate as a volunteer no late than 4 PM on November 15, 2018.  Reactivating volunteers may come to school to register through the WCPSS internet site.  Current volunteers, who provide a valid email address, will receive an email 15 days 30 days prior to the expiration of their volunteer status reminding them to reactivate.  After November 15, 2018, individuals previously approved may not volunteer without a new criminal record check.  

 

Medication Pick up

Medications from the 2017-2018 school need to picked up by a parent from the front office. These medications will be disposed of 10 business after the last day of school.  If your child needs to have medications at school for the 2018-2019 school year you need to bring in a new 1702 form. If you have any questions please call the office.

Home Base, powered by the PowerSchool application,  gives parents access to real- time information including attendance, contact information, and up-to-date transportation information (bus route number and stop location.  Sign up for an account. You will continue to use this account to view student's assignments and grades in middle school.   https://www.wcpss.net/student-information

 

PTA Fundraiser:  GoPlaySave

Get ready for our first big PTA fundraiser of the year that will earn money for Sycamore Creek Elementary!  This will also help your family save tons of money while having fun dining out and creating memories in the Triangle!  GoPlaySave has over $12,000 in local savings to amazing restaurants and fun places in the area.

Beginning July 16th you can get a head start by going to www.goplaysavetriangle.com/store/SCES2019 to create your personal link and email or text it to friends, co-workers, and family to help raise money for our school!  You will receive an email every time you have an online order.   Mobile book purchases can be used right away and paper book orders will be sent home with your child to fill orders the first week of school.

 

PTA Welcome Guide

Be sure you check out the PTA Welcome Guide that was sent home in your child's Friday folder.  It included a PTA Membership Form, Noteworthy News, Volunteer Opportunities, GiveBack Partners, Important Dates for the Year, PTA Board and Committee Contact Information.  

 

AIG Nomination Window for 4th and 5th Grades

Parents/Guardians of 4th or 5th grade students may nominate their child to be considered for evaluation for the Academically/Intellectually Gifted Program.  Nominations for fall testing are due by August 6th for Tracks 1 and 2 and September 4th for Tracks 3 and 4.  All nominations must be in writing and may be returned to Mrs. Hochbrueckner (Tracks 2 and 4) or Mrs. Chambliss (Tracks 1 and 3) via email or the classroom teacher.  When you request an evaluation, please include your child's name, grade, track, and homeroom teacher.  Children who already receive AIG services do not need to be nominated or tested again unless you are requesting a second area of identification.  Please contact Mrs. Hochbrueckner or Mrs. Chambliss with any questions.
