Before and After School Care Registration for Raleigh Parks and Recreation 

Sycamore Creek's Before and After School care registration will open next Tuesday, April 9th starting at 6:30AM. If you are planning on registering your child for the program you need to sign up for a City of Raleigh account here before Tuesday

Once you create an account you will receive an email with a pin number.   On Tuesday you can then register. You will need a bar code number (Sycamore Creek specific) to register:

WCPSS Panorama Parent Survey

Science Olympiad CrocStars

Congratulations to our Science Olympiad Team!  They competed this weekend at Heritage High School and placed 5th!  We are so proud of this team!

National Volunteer Service Week

It is time to clean out your closets!  Sycamore Creek is celebrating National Volunteer Service Week this week (April 8-12)! We are collecting used and new clothing donations for Note in the Pocket.  Collection bins are outside the gym.  

 

Another great way for your family to participate in National Volunteer Service Week is donating to our Backpack Buddies Program.  We have been incredibly low on food the last few weeks.  You can donate to the April Backpack Buddies at:

Lost and Found

Please have your child check our Lost and Found this week for any missing shirts, jackets, coats, lunchboxes, water bottles, etc!   We will be donating any items left at the end of the week to our clothing drive.  

 

SSA Nomination

Single Subject Acceleration allows students who show mastery of grade level content to move to the next level.  Parents may nominate their child to skip a grade level of content in either English Language Arts or Mathematics.   The nomination windows for SSA are:

  • Track 1 - April 15-29
  • Track 2 - April 16-30
  • Tracks 3 and 4 - May 10-23

Social Media Parent Presentation

Together with  Pine Hollow Middle School, Sycamore Creek Elementary School, and  Brier Creek Elementary School counselors, we  invite parents and community members to an upcoming informational session entitled “My Child, Your Child, & Social Media.” The session will provide parents with a deeper awareness of the power of social media, the Top 10 Hottest Teen Apps, and tips/strategies/tools to assist you and your child to be safer if/when he/she navigates the internet/social media world.

 

The event will be held at Sycamore Creek Elementary ‘s gym on  Thursday, April 18th, from 6:30-7:30 PM.

April is National Poetry Month and Poem in Your Pocket Day is Thursday, April 18th.  Look for more details next week!

Volunteers Needed for Career Day Chaperones

We are in need to 10 Chaperones for Career Day on Wednesday April 17 from 8:30 - 10:30 AM.  Chaperones will escort a group of students between speakers, supervise when with the speakers and escort back to class after three rotations.  Career Day is for 4th and 5th grade students, but you do not have to be the parent of a 4th or 5th grader to be a chaperone.
